United Negro College Fund/ Walt Disney Corporate Scholars Program
This program, supported by a $1.5 million dollar donation from The Walt Disney Company, is providing scholarship awards to talented and gifted African American students in underserved cities across the country. In addition to financial assistance, the program offers tools and resources to prepare students for careers in the entertainment industry.
Scholars will be chosen based on an aggressive application process governed by UNCF. A detailed explanation of the scholarship opportunity and program are available below:
Program Goals:
The goal of The Walt Disney Company UNCF Corporate Scholars Program is to help generate a diverse pipeline of college professionals primed to assume fulfilling off-camera careers in entertainment, and to help buildup the number of underrepresented minorities employed in the entertainment industry.
Please note, submitted applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. You are encouraged to apply early.
Eligibility Requirements:
* Underrepresented African American freshmen, enrolled full-time at a four-year college or university
* Preference will be given to applicants attending a Historically Black College or University (HBCU)
* Applicants must have an exhibited financial need as verified by their college or university
* Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale system.
* Applicants must have an interest in pursuing a career in the entertainment industry (e.g. film, television, hospitality management, journalism, media production, digital media, etc.) as demonstrated by submission of an original essay.
The deadline for this scholarship is usually in APRIL, and the award amount is $2,500 to $5,000.
