The National Hook-Up of Black Women (NHBW) Scholarship Program
The National Hook-Up of Black Women, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping Black women, is very dedicated in helping fund the education of African American that demonstrate academic leadership and initiative in community-based services. Their scholarship program rewards female students who are making significant contributions to society.
They promote and sponsor projects that enhance and enrich lives through the arts and cultural currents of the community as well as education; preparing women and girls for community service and leadership, and advocating for the welfare of women and their families.
The organization presents two (2) annual scholarships: The Dr. Arnita Young Boswell Scholarship and the Dr. Wynetta A Frazier "Sister-to-Sister" Scholarship:
The aim of the Dr. Arnita Young-Boswell Scholarship, in honor of the organization's founder, is to acknowledge and honor African-American students who have demonstrated academic excellence, concern for their community, the Black family, and an aspiration to continue their education.
The Wynetta A. Frazier “Sister-to-Sister” Scholarship was established to provide financial support to mature African American Women in their pursuit of post-secondary education. Applicants must be a returning student, whose education was intermittent by family responsibilities or personal demands and is now ready to continue their college education or enrolling in college for the first time due to the above influences. Applicants must meet the prescribed scholarship criteria.
Both scholarships require two letters of recommendation; an official transcript from the last college/university attended; if you are a continuing or returning student or official high school transcript; if you are a first-time student; submit a recent photo with your full name printed on the back; and a personal statement.
The deadline for both scholarships is usually in February, and the award amount is $500 to $1,000.
